John Stanley Marshall III, 84, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at his home in Bradenton, Florida. He was born on October 26, 1940, in Washington, D.C., to John Stanley Marshall Jr. and Lorna Mae (Broadwater) Marshall. After attending Washington Lee High School in Arlington, Va. he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Upon discharge he began a successful career in telecommunications, commencing in Virginia before transferring to Florida, where he retired. In retirement, John and his devoted wife, Claire, embraced their passion for travel, journeying extensively throughout the United States as well as countless destinations abroad. He was an avid and accomplished photographer, eager to capture the sights they visited. He was also a "foody" who found immense joy in sharing that passion by cooking for his family and friends.
John is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-five years, Claire Koob Marshall, his children, Debra (Roy Hakes) Marshall, Janet (Joe) Armentrout, David (Monica) Marshall, stepson Vittorio G. Treppo, brother Bruce (Cindy) Marshall, brother-in-law G. Patrick (Patricia) Koob, eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Marshall, granddaughter Kaley Janell Marshall, sister-in-law Kay Wilson (August 7, 2025) and brother-in-law Raymond Koob.
Interment was held at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Crownsville on September 8, 2025. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Griffith Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, Florida, 34205.
