John Joseph "Johnny" Matwijcow III , age 59, of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026

John was born on January 16, 1966, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and was raised in South Plainfield, New Jersey. Throughout his life, he lived in Bridgewater, New Jersey, as well as Nazareth and Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, before moving to Florida in January 2025.

John completed his studies at the McCauley School, a school supporting students with special needs. He participated in the Special Olympics, demonstrating his enthusiasm, determination, and joy in being active and connected with others. He also participated in supported services through THE ARC, where he took pride in being part of his community and engaging in meaningful daily activities.

John had a gentle spirit and brought quiet joy to those around him. He had a deep love for Elvis Presley, enjoyed listening to music, watching his favorite television game shows, western TV shows, movies, and spending time coloring creating art. John especially loved Italian food of all kinds and had a special fondness for McDonald's, which never failed to bring a smile to his face.

John was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John Joseph Matwijcow, Jr., Patricia Ann Cirigliano Matwijcow, and mentor/brother Joseph Matika.

He is survived by his loving sisters, Kimberly Ann Matwijcow Kopke and Jessica Ann Matwijcow Clark, his primary caregiver, who cherished him deeply. He is also lovingly remembered by David, Christopher, Brenda, Adrian, Jasmine, Emily, Mark, Isabel, Jacob, Chelsea, Vega (Jonathan).

John was a beloved brother, uncle, and family member, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future, with details to be announced.

John will be cremated at Monarch Crematory in Ocala, Florida.
