Obituary

John T. Meade, 90, of Port Orange, Florida, died the 13 th of September 2023.  A man of deep faith and lover of Mallowmars, donuts and Dairy Queen.

John was born in Great Neck, NY in 1932, the first of four children of the late Edmund Patrick Meade and Cecilia Dorothea Plunkett Meade.

John grew up on Long Island and attended Clarkson University and SUNY Westbury.  John served in the U.S. Navy as a non-commissioned officer during the Korean War.  John responded to many calls from FEMA after major disasters.  He also had a successful career in construction sales.  He raised his family in Smithtown and Oakdale, NY.  He later settled in Florida where he eventually retired.

John is survived by his companion of 32 years, Anne Rosato, also of Port Orange; his two sons, Edmund P. Meade and his husband Jon R. DeAngelis of Chatham, NJ, John T. Meade and his wife Christine Lalonde-Meade of Cherry Valley, NY and a large circle of friends, both young and old.

John is also survived by his brother William P. Meade of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, eight nieces and nephews in Florida, North Carolina and Virginia.

John is preceded in death by his former wife, Diana C. Meade, of Englewood, New Jersey and his brothers, Patrick of Tom's Brook, Virginia and Edmund of Lady Lake, Florida.

Viewing on Wednesday, September 20, 6-8pm.  Baldwin Brothers, 620 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange.

A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church US 1, New Smyrna Beach, on Thursday, September 21, at 11am followed by interment at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims Florida at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John's name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
