John Charles Melaney, 78 passed away on July 6, 2025 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Venice, Florida. John was born on May 3, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a veteran. After serving in Vietnam he spent his professional career working in the plastics industry in Canada and the United States. He is predeceased by his siblings Patricia, Terry and twin sister Judy. John is survived by his loving wife Valerie, daughter Nancy (Garth), grandchildren Cody (Blayre), Alexis, Cassidy, great granddaughter Sloane and many close friends. John's presence and sense of humor did not go unnoticed. He loved boating, fishing and spending time with friends. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

A burial with military honors will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Sarasota National Cemetery located at 9810 State Road 72 in Sarasota. All are welcome to attend.
