John Richard Mello IV, age 60, died on July 10, 2020 in the loving arms of his wife, Jayne, with whom he celebrated 20 years of marriage. He was born on February 13, 1960 in Medford, Massachusetts. John was a quality assurance technician at Axcelis Technologies in Beverly, Massachusetts before becoming ill with metastatic bladder cancer. John was the oldest of seven children and was predeceased by his brother Michael. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Shirley and Frank Gochakowski along with a son Jeffery Mello and a daughter Chantel Mello and granddaughter Shirley. He had a wonderfully close relationship with his in-laws, Thomas Mangone and Geri Freeman. He adored his several nieces and nephews. John was proud of his twenty-two years as a sergeant in the United States Army. This allowed him to travel and see the world. John most loved traveling to the beaches of the Caribbean ocean with his wife. John had many motorcycles through the years and loved sharing stories of his adventures on the Autobaun in Germany with his Harley Davidson. He enjoyed spending time in nature and walking the trails of New England. He loved listening to the birds in the morning as they gathered in the big maple tree outside his bedroom window. John had an infectious smile, a contagious laugh, and a compassionate spirit. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
