John Joseph Monaghan III (Monz), 54, Mount Dora FL, originally from Philadelphia, PA went home to the Lord on Friday August 31, 2018 peacefully surrounded by family and friends.  John was born in Philadelphia on July 16, 1964 to John Joseph Monaghan Jr. and Geraldine Mary Monaghan.  John was a big personality who loved making others smile.  His proudest moment was his Marine Corps graduation and entering the Corps' eternal brotherhood.  He was a communicator at heart who loved to talk, text or Facebook anyone who cared to engage. Mostly John was about family, be it his love for his parents, siblings, nephews and nieces; he always wanted to be close to home.

John is survived by his parents, John Joseph Monaghan Jr. and Geraldine Mary Monaghan, Mount Dora FL; brother, Michael Edward Monaghan, Warminster, PA; sister, Maureen Monaghan Kennedy, Mount Dora, FL; brother-in-law, Paul Patrick Kennedy, Mount Dora, FL;  nephews, Brendan Daniel Kennedy, Mount Dora, FL; Michael Dodd Monaghan, Atlanta, GA; nieces, Meghan Colleen Kennedy, Mount Dora, FL; and Kathleen Helen Kennedy, Mount Dora, FL.

Services will be held for John on Saturday September 15, 2018 at St. Katherine of Siena Church located at 9700 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19114. Celebration of Life: 9:00am to 11:00am Mass: 11:00am
