IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John David
Prutz
November 16, 1934 – February 16, 2026
John David Prutz, The Villages, Florida and Roswell, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on November 16, 1934, in Newton Falls, Ohio, to John and Mary Prutz. He graduated from Newton Falls High School in 1952 and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning home to Ohio, John worked full-time while putting himself through eight years of night classes at Youngstown State University, earning a B.S. in Business Administration. John was the first in his family to graduate college. He started his career at U.S. Steel and transferred to I.B.M. where he had a long profession in sales. John retired from I.B.M. in 1992, excited for more time to relax on the golf course.
John and Patricia (Alcorn) were married November 29, 1969 and together they raised their daughter in a home that often had the Cleveland Browns or Cleveland Indians on TV; and dog, Beau, running around. John was known for his love of anything Polish (ie. Polka music, kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, pierogis), all football, playing golf, fishing, camping, playing poker or shooting pool with his buddies and hanging out with his extended family. John’s sense of humor, charisma, generosity and steadfast work ethic were cherished by many.
He is survived by his daughter, Jenny; son-in-law, Mike; granddaughter, Makena; niece, Brenda (Michael); nephews, David (Jami), Dean, Larry and Randy. He was preceded in death by wife of 54 years, Patricia; his parents and two sisters, Marsha (Glen) and Marilyn.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to the Humane Society of Sumter County: PO. 67, Lake Panasoffkee, FL, 33538 or donate at hsspca.org. Memorial Services are pending.
John’s legacy of determination, loyalty, love and laughter will live on in all who knew him.
