John Raymond Takarewicz Jr., of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2025. He was born in January 1956 in Brooklyn, New York.

John proudly served his country through a distinguished 33-year career with the United States Army and the Department of Veterans Affairs. A dedicated member of American Legion Post 46, he remained committed to supporting fellow veterans throughout his life.

For 34 years, John shared a loving marriage with his wife, Barbara Takarewicz. Together they built a blended family that brought him immense pride and joy. He is survived by Barbara and their six children: Jennifer, Cari, Michelle, Stephanie, Michael, and Kristi; eleven grandchildren: Nicholas, Gabby, Andrew, Sydney, Kira, Ryan, Brandon, Alex, Olivia, Sawyer, and Stephanie; and four great-grandchildren: Allison, Adelita, Freya, and Charlie.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Takarewicz Sr. and Catherine Takarewicz, as well as his son John Takarewicz III.

Beyond his professional accomplishments and military service, John had a deep passion for coaching youth baseball. He cherished time spent with family and friends and was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors in need.

A funeral service will be held at Bay Pines Cemetery on April 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to AmVets Post 46 in Tarpon Springs in honor of John's enduring commitment to veterans.
