John (Jack) Louis VanGundy, 89, of North Fort Myers, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in Cape Coral. He was born February 24, 1929 in Mattoon, IL to Robert and Edna (Powell) VanGundy.

After high school graduation, he served in the Navy as a fireman on a destroyer at the end of  WWII.  He raised his three sons and daughter in the suburbs of Chicago before retiring to Florida.

He is survived by sisters Maxine Arthur and Doris Webb, children Shirley Bristow, John and Tom VanGundy, and grandchildren Lauren and Chris VanGundy.

He is preceded in death by parents Robert and Edna VanGundy, siblings Agnes, Laura, Bud, Bill, Bob, JD, Ella, June, and Pauline, wife Anne and son Tony VanGundy.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a veterans organization of your choice.

At Jack's request, no funeral service will be held.
