John Elvin Zuch II, born July 1, 1922, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, in Debary, Florida, just days after celebrating his 104th birthday. His long and extraordinary life touched the hearts of all who knew him, and his unwavering faith, deep compassion, and infectious sense of humor illuminated the lives of his family, friends, and community.

John’s legacy is firmly rooted in his devotion to Christ and his heartfelt desire to bring others closer to the Lord. He was a faithful prayer warrior, gifted bible teacher, and always ready to lead his family and countless others into a deeper understanding of faith. His journey of ministry began after attending Eastern Nazarene College and Reformed Episcopal Seminary; his passion for learning about God’s word never diminished across the decades.

John found his calling as a pastor, dedicating many years to nurturing congregations in various communities. He served as pastor at Primitive Methodist Churches in Wardsville, WI, Roseville, WI, Pleasant View, WI, New Bedford, MA, Westmoreland City, PA, Levittown, PA, and Orlando, FL. Each church became part of his extended family, shaped by his leadership, his laughter, and his boundless spirit for adventure. He furthered his commitment to Christian education as Vice President of the Primitive Methodist School of Theology and faithfully served Bible Literature International in Indiana and Southeast Florida.

He married Emma Elizabeth Dambach in 1946, a union that lasted through life’s joys and challenges. Together, they built a home centered around love, faith, and warmth—a foundation felt deeply by every member of their family, and all who were privileged to know them.

John’s heart for service reached beyond the local church. He was an ardent supporter of numerous mission organizations, including Voice of the Martyrs, Missionary Aviation, Jewish Voice Fellowship Navigators, Wycliffe Bible Translators, Samaritan’s Purse, Mercy Ships, and Faith Comes By Hearing. Many were inspired by his tireless efforts to spread compassion and hope around the world.

Before dedicating his life to ministry, John served his country with distinction in the United States Navy during World War II as a motor machinist, 2nd class from 1944-1946. He cherished his connection with his fellow veterans and was a proud VFW member.

Friends and family remember John as someone who never ran out of jokes—a consummate storyteller whose warmth and wit brought out smiles and laughter in any gathering. His adventurous nature shone through whether he was telling tales, out hunting, fishing, golfing, or playing softball. He embraced each day with enthusiasm and a readiness to make memories.

John is mourned by those who survive him, including his loving children: Janet (Bob) Anderson of Debary, FL and John (Rebecca) Zuch of Raleigh, NC; and his son-in-law, Lonnie Ritler. He is also remembered by his devoted sisters, Lois West of Telford, PA and Norma Pejack of Bedford, PA; and sister-in-law, Barbara Zuch. His grandchildren—Sharon Lohr, Kristina Jones, John Zuch and Rob Anderson—carry on his legacy, as do his great-grandchildren: Sierra, Rory, Lincoln, Noah, Micah, Alexandria, and Maxine. The circle of his family is a testament to the love in which John delighted and which he so freely shared.

John is reunited in eternity with his loving wife Emma, and other family left before him, such as his cherished daughter Marlene Ritler, his dear sisters, Irene Benjamin and Daisy Patterson, and his brother Robert Zuch.

John Elvin Zuch II’s life is celebrated for the faith he lived, the stories he shared, and the love he gave. His unwavering trust in the Lord, generous heart, and infectious joy leave behind a legacy of hope, humor, and faith that will endure for generations to come. His family, friends, and all touched by his ministry are grateful for the many years spent in his presence.

Though we mourn his passing, we rejoice in the beautiful life that John lived. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Funeral Services are to be held at Bensalem Baptist Church (335 Richlieu Rd, Bensalem, PA) on August 22, 2026 at 11am followed by a reception at Georgine's Restaurant (1320 Newport Rd, Bristol, PA).
