Jonathan Michael Mahany's Obituary

Jonathan Michael Mahany, 36, of Ormond Beach, FL, passed away February 14, 2026. He was born in Huntington, New York on December 11, 1989, to parents, Dr. Thomas and Connie Mahany.

In High School where he was an Honor Roll student, Jon was part of the Future Farmers of America program and member of the Civil Air Patrol. He was also on the wrestling and track team. He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he went to flight school and earned a B.A. in Homeland Security. He was also a United States Army Veteran, where he was a Lieutenant and a Black Hawk helicopter pilot. After being a pilot, he went into the Army Reserves where he managed a platoon. Jon received an honorable discharge from the Army. He went on to become an application engineer for Lemo.

Jon had a deep passion for aviation — anything related to airplanes and helicopters truly fascinated him. It wasn’t just an interest, but something that genuinely excited and inspired him. He also loved learning and exploring new things, constantly expanding his knowledge across many different subjects. Jon had a natural curiosity about the world, and no matter what someone asked him, he always seemed to know the answer or was eager to find it.

He was especially interested in history and spent a great deal of time learning about different historical periods. In particular, he had a strong interest in Russian history, including the era of the Soviet Union, which he found both fascinating and complex.

Jon was an incredibly caring and compassionate person who was always ready to help anyone in need, whether it was a close friend or a complete stranger. He had a kind nature, a generous spirit, and a thoughtful, analytical mind. Jon approached life with curiosity and intention — he carefully considered his decisions and took the time to learn and understand things fully before moving forward.

Above all, he was a devoted husband and father who loved his wife and children with his whole heart, as well as his two dogs. Those who knew him saw a man with a truly big heart — dependable, selfless, and deeply caring. He left a lasting impression on everyone around him through his kindness, loyalty, and willingness to support others whenever they needed him.

Jon is survived by his wife, Angelina Mahany, daughters, Sophia and Olivia Mahany, father, Dr. Thomas Mahany, and his brother and sister-in-law, James and Nicole Mahany. He is also survived by his nephew, William Mahany, aunts, Bonnie MacQueen, Susan Kalmus, Kathy Gilheny, and Mary Watson, uncles, Dan Mahany, Dan Gilheny, and John Watson, and cousins, Ronald Nash, Scarlett Nash, Connor Nash, Kristen Minkenna, Melissa Featherstone, Erin Mahany, Mary Kate Mahany, Colleen Mahany, Dan Gilheny, Meghan Gilheny, Mike Gilheny, Betti Watson, Michael Watson, Sean Watson, Caitlin Akbarzai, Hameed Akbarzai, Meghan Walker, Will Walker, and Shane Walker.

Jon was predeceased by his mother who passed November 22, 2022, Connie Mahany, his maternal grandmother and grandfather, Gilda and William Kalmus, his paternal grandmother and grandfather, Helen and Thomas Mahany, and his uncle, Martin MacQueen.

Jon will be remembered as an honest and genuinely kind person who carried himself with quiet strength and humility. He rarely complained, no matter what challenges he faced, and instead focused on caring for the people he loved. He was incredibly devoted to his family and friends, always putting their needs before his own and making sure those around him felt supported and protected.

His love was constant, steady, and unconditional. Jon’s caring nature, loyalty, and generous heart will never be forgotten by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
