Jonathan Corbett Martin, 31, a fifth-generation descendant of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at AdventHealth Waterman in Tavares, Florida.

Jonathan was born on November 4, 1994, at Waterman Hospital in Eustis, Florida, to Ouida Stark Brumley Martin and James Corbett Martin Jr. He grew up in the Mount Dora area, graduated from Tavares High School with the Class of 2013, and later attended Lake-Sumter State College.

Jonathan was hardworking, independent, and extraordinarily mechanically inclined. He owned his own business doing tree work and working as a handyman, and there were very few things he couldn’t figure out how to fix. Whether it was a car, a piece of equipment, or something around the house, Jonathan had a natural ability to understand how things worked and get them working again.

But Jonathan will be remembered far more for the people he helped than for the things he could fix.

He had a big heart, literally and figuratively, and would help just about anybody in any way he could. He was a great friend, fiercely loyal, generous, and always willing to show up when someone needed him. He was also loud, funny, occasionally obnoxious, and completely and unapologetically Jonathan. Those who knew and loved him wouldn’t have wanted him any other way.

Jonathan loved sports, especially football. He was a devoted Florida Gators fan and loved his Miami Dolphins. He could talk sports with just about anyone and brought his enthusiasm along with him wherever he went.

After his father’s death, Jonathan wanted to help his mother spend more time outside and become more connected to the land around their family home. His solution was very Jonathan: he brought home chickens. What began with those chickens eventually grew into a family passion for raising animals, growing food, and creating a food forest on property that has been in his family for generations. It is one of the many ways Jonathan’s influence will quite literally continue to grow.

Jonathan shared a special relationship with Doji Rajon and her son, Jonas, whom he absolutely adored. They were an important part of his life and held a very special place in his heart.

Jonathan is survived by his mother, Ouida Stark Brumley Martin; his sister, Olivia Martin; his brothers, Samuel Martin and Daniel Martin; his paternal grandmother, Judith Hyacinth Braswell Martin; his paternal grandfather, James Corbett Martin; and his maternal grandmother, Ouida Gay Heist Brumley. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his beloved father, James Corbett Martin Jr., and his maternal grandfather, Daniel Early Brumley.

Jonathan’s life was far too short, but it was filled with people who loved him, people he helped, friendships he treasured, laughter, noise, football, projects that needed fixing, and a family who will carry him with them always.

A service celebrating Jonathan’s life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Edward’s Episcopal Church in Mount Dora. A reception will follow in the parish hall, where family and friends will gather to share memories and view a slideshow celebrating Jonathan’s life.

In lieu of traditional flowers, the family invites those who wish to remember Jonathan to bring or send plants, fruit trees, seeds, or other plantings for the family food forest Jonathan helped inspire. As they grow on his family’s land in the years ahead, they will serve as living reminders of Jonathan and the life he shared with those who loved him.

Jonathan will be deeply missed, fiercely loved, and never forgotten.
