Joseph I. Jacques, 92, of Ormond by the Sea, Florida, passed away on December 24, 2015 at home. He was the beloved husband of Rose-Marie V. Jacques. Born in Van Buren, ME, son of the late Willie and Emily (Gallant) Jacques. His Mother was from Prince Edward Island, Canada. He married his wife in Copenhagen, Denmark on December 22, 1962. Lived in Wethersfield where he served on the Zoning Board. Moved to Farmington for the next thirty years.
He leaves behind 3 wonderful children. Christian Brian (Deborah) Jacques, Bonnie Colleen (Shane) StCyr, and Maureen Emily (Allen) Button. As well as 7 much loved grandchildren, Chelsey, Cody, Dylan, Alyssa, Brenna, Liam and Alexander.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Francis, Lloyd and Ken as well as his sisters, Irene and Olga.
He enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII in Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay after training in several states and becoming a Metalsmith and repairing airplanes. He took his pre-law training at Teachers College of Connecticut at New Britain before transferring to the University of Detroit where he received his law degree in June 1951. A member of Franam, the Franco-American Veterans, French Social Club and others. He had many interests over the years, traveling, gardening, handball, golf, cross country skiing with his family and spent many years playing tennis at Bicentennial Park nearby.
A Memorial Mass will take place on Monday, January 11, 2016, 11:00 AM at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 1000 Oceanshore Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL.
Burial will take place at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, Connecticut, at a later date.
