Joseph "Jojo" Fredric Martinez, of Fort Myers, FL, a beloved father, husband, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and uncle, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021. He was born Nov. 17, 1982, in Nyack, NY. He is predeceased by his father Julio Martinez, of Nyack. He is survived by his wife Jessica Martinez, his son Anthony Martinez, of Fort Myers; his mother Sophie Diane Kovatch, his stepfather David Kovatch, of Florida, NY; his brothers Julio Martinez, Jorge Martinez, of Clarksville, Ind., and James Martinez, of Newburgh, NY; his sisters Sara Kovatch, Kailin Kovatch, and Breanne Kovatch, of Florida, NY; his mother-in-law Linda Schmitt, his father-in-law Bill Schmitt, of North Fort Myers, FL; as well as several nieces and other extended family members.
Joseph, also known as Joe Bean, grew up in Nanuet and Washingtonville and lived in several other places in New York until he moved to Stroudsburg, PA, and eventually to Florida. He loved his son Anthony, who was his entire world, who he would play with for hours and hours on end, laughing and screaming in utter joy. He spent most of his life with Jessica, his love since his teens. Joseph would always volunteer to help anyone in need, including complete strangers. He had an affinity for making friends with anyone, anywhere. Joseph held a strong passion for listening to music and one of his favorite pastimes was cleaning his car. He also loved to spend time outdoors and making bonfires. He will always be remembered as having a huge heart, as being one of the kindest and funniest people, and as a protector of his loved ones.
