Joseph Matty Segal (92) of Ormond Beach, Florida entered into eternal rest surrounded in love by his wife and daughter on July 11, 2021. Joe was born November 6, 1928, in Utica, New York to Matty and Mary Segal. He attended New York Mills High School and proudly served in the U.S. Navy from1946-1950. Upon discharge from the Navy, Joe returned to Utica and attended the Polytech Institute and completed his degree in computer technology. He worked for Univac & Par Tech until his retirement in 1986.

In 1954 Joe married Phyllis Grande in Utica, NY and they resided in Clinton, NY until their retirement in 1986, when they relocated to Ormond Beach, FL. Joe was an avid outdoorsman and loved snowmobiling, gardening, and his greatest passion was hunting in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 56 years, Phyllis. He is survived by his wife Judy (2015), daughter Shelley and her husband Richard Jones, 3 grandchildren, Matthew Jones (Shannon), Michael Jones (Katie), and Megan Jones (Anthony), and 6 great-grandchildren, Sage, Lily, Violet, Jack, John, and Luci.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 11am at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL 32176. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in memory of Joe to Halifax Health Hospice or the local Veterans Administration.
