Joseph Peter Turano, 78, of North Fort Myers passed away on September 10, 2023, at Lee HealthPark in Fort Myers.

Funeral services and mass will be held at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 13031 Palm Beach Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33905 on September 30, 2023 at 10:30 AM. He will be buried next to his wife Toni Lee at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Joseph was born in Buffalo, New York to Peter Frank Turano and Marion Alita Turano on March 29, 1945. The first of three boys, his family moved from Buffalo to Bonita Springs in 1961. He graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1964 where he was well known for his athletic accomplishments which included lettering three years in both football and swimming and being captain of both the Green Wave football and swimming teams in his senior year. He went on to play football at Kansas State University and attended classes locally at Edison Junior College.

His career was primarily in construction, working first in the family plastering business, and then as a general contractor and construction superintendent.

Joseph was preceded in death by his wife in 2017, father in 1974, mother in 2015, and his youngest brother in 2008. He is survived by his son and daughter, brother, two granddaughters, three grandsons, twelve great grandchildren, a nephew and two nieces.
