IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joy
Williamson
February 4, 1933 – March 7, 2016
Joy Williamson of Windermere, Florida passed away peacefully on March 7, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was 83. Joy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Patrick M. Williamson as well as children Stephen, Gail Piro, Peter, son-in-law Rocco Piro and 7 wonderful grandchildren: Daniel, Michael, Nicholas, Christopher, Alex, Sadie and Jack.
Born in Acton, England to William and Susan Neve, Joy married Patrick in 1954 and in 1973 the family moved to the United States and resided in Stamford, Connecticut for over 30 years. Joy was always extremely active in various sports and local service. She became an accomplished and well known golfer in the Stamford area throughout the 1970s and 80s. In the 1990s Joy developed severe emphysema and received a lung transplant at age 64. This second chance inspired her to make helping others with this affliction her priority. Together with Pat, she was a generous supporter of many hospitals and organizations through which she touched the lives of everyone she met.
Joy was an independent spirit who believed people should think for themselves and never assume the truth but always enjoy the journey to seek it. She truly was a positive force for all that knew her and Joy's spirit continues on in the lives of her family and friends. She will be missed but never forgotten. If you would like to make a donation in Joy's honor, please send to Second Wind Lung Transplant Association of St. Louis.
