Judith C.
Simmons
Apr 23, 1942 — Jun 15, 2026
Judith Simmons, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, began her journey into eternal life on June 15, 2026 at the age of 84. She passed peacefully with her family at her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Pearl Krausz; her devoted husband, John Simmons; brother in-law, Bob O’Brien; and the father of her children and first husband, Lawrence Peer. Judi is survived by her children, Henry Peer and Stacy Germano (Michael Germano); her brother, David Krausz (Joyce Krausz); her sister, Dianne Isbell-O’Brien; and her cherished grandchildren, Joseph Germano and Julia Germano.
Judi was also blessed to be part of her beloved husband’s family for nearly 30 years. She was preceded in death by her step-granddaughter, Sarah Parrott, and is survived by her stepdaughters, Lisa Parrott (David Parrott) and Kathy Gibbs (Brian Gibbs); step-grandchildren Dustin James (Pam James), Kayla Smith (Garrett Smith), Brandi Simmons (Josh Guthrie), Brianna Self (Jeremy Self), Brian Simmons (Teal Simmons), and Brittany Highbaugh (Jake Highbaugh); and step-great-grandchildren Roman James, Raelynn James, Osmond Smith, Gavin Self, Briar Simmons, Titan Simmons, Aurora Simmons, Berkleigh Highbaugh, and Karsyn Highbaugh.
She loved her family deeply, her friends caringly, her faith unwavering, her craft passionately, and all who knew her were blessed by her presence in their lives.
Beyond her family, Judi's role as a mother extended to many others as well. Growing up, countless young people found a safe haven in her home, where she watched over them, ensured their safety, and became a trusted source of wisdom and guidance. Many proudly called her “Mom.” Her compassionate heart, perfect timing, and honest advice helped shape the lives of many young people who crossed her path.
Judi was an extraordinary woman whose kindness knew no bounds. She consistently placed the needs of others before her own and always had a smile to share. No matter where she lived, she quickly gathered a circle of friends and made a positive impact on her community. The friendships she formed lasted a lifetime, and she treasured each one.
For many years, Judi was a single mother who worked tirelessly to provide for her children. Though their father remained involved and supportive, she was determined to give them every opportunity possible. She traveled across the country for sporting events, sewed uniforms from scratch, encouraged artistic talents through private lessons, and made countless sacrifices to ensure her children thrived. She worked as a Secretary, Teamster Administrator, Independent Wallpaper, In-home Punch Card Data Enterer, and took on whatever work was necessary to support her family.
It was during her work as a Teamster Administrator that she met her second and final husband, John Simmons. They fell in love quickly and shared nearly 30 wonderful years of marriage before John’s passing in February 2026.
Together they built a life filled with family, laughter, and love. In their small country town, they created cherished memories for their grandchildren with swimming pools, go-carts, and endless opportunities for fun. It was there that Judi embraced her passion for quilting and began working at a local quilting shop.
Through quilting, Judi found another way to serve others. She devoted countless hours to charitable causes, creating quilts for veterans, hospice patients, individuals experiencing homelessness, foster children, and many others in need. During the pandemic, she made hundreds of masks and created pillowcases with pockets among many other handmade items for foster children. Compassion was at the very core of who she was, and she continually used her talents to bring comfort, dignity, and love to others.
Despite her busy life, she answered each request for help without question. She was also well-known for her remarkable sewing talents and altering clothing at a moment’s notice. Family members, friends, church members, and neighborhood children all benefited from her quick and skillful handiwork. To this day, many of us are wearing clothes she altered with her own loving touch.
While giving so much of herself to family, friends, and her community, Judi also embraced life fully. She took great joy in her accomplishments, her hobbies, the beauty of everyday moments, and enjoyed day trips with her husband. Her quilting talents earned her countless blue ribbons, and she became known for helping others preserve family memories through the quilts she lovingly completed. She added the final touch of care and craftsmanship to projects that would become treasured family heirlooms.
Her quilting friends will especially miss the retreats she loved attending, the laughter she shared, and the friendships she nurtured.
Judi now lives in eternal glory, walking hand in hand with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith sustained her throughout her life and now carries her into everlasting peace. Though her absence leaves a profound void; her love, kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith remain woven into the lives of all who knew her.
Until we meet her again…
