It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of June B. McDaniel, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. June passed away at the age of 88 in her home after a long and fulfilling life. June was born September 25th in Gastonia, NC to Henry and Geneva Boyd. June graduated in 1952 from Ashley High School in Gastonia, NC. She attended Appalachian State Teacher's College (ASTC) and received a Bachelor of Science in Education. During her time at ASTC, June met and married her loving husband of 64 years, William Oakley "Bill" McDaniel, who predeceased her. In her professional life, June was a high school teacher and a realtor. June is survived by her daughter, Bonny Heaton of Edgewater, FL., her grandchildren, Jennifer Heaton of Ormond Beach, FL., Jason Heaton of Hendersonville, NC., Joseph Heaton of Edgewater, FL., her brother Tommy L. Boyd Sr., and his wife, Carolina, of Casa Grande, AZ., and numerous nieces and nephews. June was known for her kindness and generosity. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. June had a love of traveling, gardening, and cooking. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, grandchildren, brother, as well as her extended family and friends.
