Karen Gilson (Baker), 68, from Anderson Indiana passed away at her home in Leesburg Florida on June 21, 2026 with her devoted husband, John, at her side. Karen was born on February 27, 1958 in North Kingstown Rhode Island. She will be remembered, by the many people that loved her, for her compassionate heart, upbeat personality, sense of humor and infectious smile. Karen dedicated over 20 years to her career as the Horsemans Bookkeeper at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino in Anderson Indiana and obtained an Associates degree in accounting. She was an active member of White Shrine and Eastern star, loved to travel, spend time with family, friends and her husband of 17 years.

Karen is preceded in death by her father Virgil Baker, paternal grandparents Marion and Thelma Wools and lifelong and best friend Tammy Reed (Wilkinson). She is survived by her husband John Gilson, son Danny Moneyhun, daughter Crystal Davis, granddaughter Makenzie Willhoite, grandson Caleb Willhoite, great grandson Ledger Quinn, mother Elizabeth Porter, brothers Dave (Helen) Baker, Steve (Tina) Baker, Rick (Angie) Baker, Kevin Whitesel, Keith Whitesel, stepsister Debbie (Terry) Buckner, stepbrothers David (Penny) Whitesel, Mark Porter and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life is being planned in Indiana and will be announced at a later date.
