Obituary

Karen Wentworth Stewart, 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 28, 2026, peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on July 15, 1947, along with her twin brother, Keith Wentworth, in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Kenneth and Ruth Wentworth.

Karen attended Hanford High School, where she met the love of her life, Jonas P. Stewart. They attended Fresno State College and were married on June 8, 1968. Karen went on to pursue her nursing degree and obtained her license as a Registered Nurse.

Karen was the kindest, most compassionate, and warmhearted woman. Her warmth was like a magnet that drew people in and made them want to be close to her. She adored her family and loved spending time with them. She was creative and fun, had a wonderful sense of humor, and, oh, what a laugh she had! She was a lover of music and enjoyed long walks on the beach.

She was a pianist, teacher, nurse, vocalist, and friend to all. She opened a school and taught in countless settings, including churches and clubs, teaching both adults and children throughout the years. She was always pouring into the lives of people, both young and old. She freely sacrificed herself to help others; it is no wonder she became a nurse. Above all, Karen made sure to tell everyone about Jesus. I believe that was her life mission, and she succeeded!

Karen Stewart was preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Ruth Wentworth; her twin brother, Keith Wentworth; and her brother, Paul Wentworth.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jonas Stewart, and their children: Carrie Harkins and husband Steven Harkins; Jennie Fricke; Hollie Salerno and husband Marc Salerno; Brent Stewart; Mindie Stroehlen and husband Jon Stroehlen; Grant Stewart and fiancé Jess Lyons; Jalie Trowbridge and husband Andrew Trowbridge; and Jarrett Stewart and wife Ellie Stewart.

She is also survived by her 21 grandchildren: Brandon Harkins and wife Kaitlyn; Ryan Harkins and wife Reka; Brant Stroehlen and wife Sarah; Callie Hartung and husband Zachariah; Preston Fricke; Caren Harkins; Jon Jon Stroehlen; Garrett Fricke; Adriana Guzman and husband Vicente; Brent Stewart; Abigail Stroehlen; Alexa Salerno; Christian Fricke; Shea Stewart; Emma Trowbridge; Wade Stewart; Aaron Trowbridge; Chase Stroehlen; Macie Stewart; Graden Stewart; and Romie Stewart.

She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren: Brian Harkins, Bailey Harkins, River Stroehlen, Summer Harkins, Nevaeh Stroehlen, Alaia Fricke, Kaleb Harkins, and Stella Harkins.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
