Karen Lynn Sturgeon, 61, of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on May 23, 2026, after a courageous battle with multiple cancers.

Born on July 14, 1964, in Mount Holly, New Jersey, Karen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter.

On August 27, 2005, she married the love of her life, Dana Sturgeon, and together they shared 20 beautiful years of deep and infinite love. Her grandchildren lovingly called her “Mimi,” and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Karen had a great love for sea turtles and enjoyed long walks on the beach.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Dana Sturgeon of Daytona Beach Shores; her daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Blake Ford of Holly Hill; her step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Ashley and Lemont Daymon of Ocala; her five grandchildren, Addison, Emma, Gabriella, Eliana, and Cameron; her mother, Sally Rickolt of Ocala; her sister, Cheryl Findlay; her brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Sharon Woodis; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Woodis.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Volusia Turtle Patrol or Marine Science Center of Ponce Inlet in Karen’s memory, or simply to spend time at the beach with loved ones in her honor.
