IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen
Witengier
November 6, 1951 – January 16, 2025
Karen B. Witengier, 73, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on January 16, 2025, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. True to the way she lived her life, her journey was one of boldness, determination, and unwavering courage. Born on November 6, 1951, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, she was the daughter of a WWII Navy serviceman and was stationed around the country before her family settled in Central Florida in 1966, where she graduated from Colonial High School.
Karen found her professional calling at BellSouth Yellow Pages, where she served as a manager and traveling sales representative. Her career allowed her to traverse every road that crossed Central Florida and the Southeast, connecting with people from all walks of life and leaving a lasting impression with her charisma, wit, and work ethic. She embraced every opportunity for adventure, whether professionally or personally, finding joy in the rhythm of the road, the freedom of the journey, and the connections made along the way.
Karen's love for the open road was matched only by her sense of style and flair. Every drive was an event—lipstick perfectly applied, windows rolled down, music turned up, and a Virginia Slim in her slender, always-manicured hand. Her vibrancy and love for life were evident in all she did, whether navigating life's challenges or savoring its joys.
She was a devoted wife to Jan Steven Witengier for 53 years and a proud mother to Elizabeth Witengier, both of Orlando, Florida. Karen is lovingly reunited with her parents, Mary Virginia Pridgen and Russell Evie Blankenship, now at peace together.
Karen will be remembered for her sense of humor, compassion, and love for animals. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her name to Journey's End Animal Sanctuary, reflecting her lifelong care for animals and her compassionate spirit.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM, bringing together family and friends to honor Karen's memory and share stories of her incredible journey. Those who wish to attend are kindly asked to contact the family at 77hazellane@gmail.com for event details.
Karen's journey touched countless lives, and her legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will forever guide those who knew her. She taught us to embrace life with grace, humor, and a dash of flair—always ready for the next turn. Her road may have ended, but her spirit continues to inspire.
