Karena Lorraine Flournoy (nee Vernon), 58 of Ocala, FL passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, music, and family.  Born on October 5, 1967, Karena had a lifelong passion for music.  From an early age, she displayed a remarkable talent as a pianist, sharing her gift with those around her.  During her high school years, she proudly participated in the drill team, creating friendships and memories that she cherished throughout her life.

A devoted woman of faith, Karena was a member of Trinity Catholic Church where she found great joy in serving as a member of the church choir.  Singing was one of her greatest passions and her beautiful voice was an expression of both her love for music and her faith.  Karena will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and genuine love for her family.  

She is survived by her devoted husband Joey Flournoy, brother James (Kelly) Vernor, beloved nieces and nephews; Ryan (Aleksa) Vernon, Ayden Vernon, Reagan (Lundy) Stead, and Angelica Krause.  Though she had no children of her own, she treasured being an aunt and loved each of her nieces and nephews dearly.  Karena was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Peggy Vernon.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Karena's life on Thursday August 13, 2026 at 10:00am at Trinity Baptist Church, 1600 Southeast 58th Ave. Ocala, FL 34480.

Karena's love of music, unwavering faith, and compassionate heart touched the lives of many.  Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to live on in the songs she loved, the faith she shared, and the countless lives she blessed with her kindness.
