Obituary

Kathleen (Kathy) Gores Boesel, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, went to The Lord peacefully on May 23, 2026, at the age of 76.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; their three children Kevin (April), Kristin (Josh) Kelley, Matthew (Carrie), seven grandchildren; Brooke-Lyn, Ryan, Cole, Drew, Colin, Ella and Daxton as well as her sister, Jean Wiley and many loved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is predeceased by her brother Robert (Margie) Gores, and sister Sue (Harry) Miller.

Kathy was born in Rochester, NY to Mildred and Frances Gores. She attended Our Lady of Mercy and continued her education at St. Catherine College in Kentucky where she earned a degree in education. Kathy was a devoted stay-at-home mother who dedicated her life to raising her family. Along the way, she also held several part-time positions working with children. After her children were grown, she found great joy working as a teacher at the Strong Museum of Play. Kathy cherished traveling with her family, especially to Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head Island, and Florida. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and never hesitated to babysit—whether for an afternoon, a week, or even longer. She found great joy in caring for them and treasured every moment they spent together.

Kathy will be remembered for her bright smile, outgoing personality, warm, friendly spirit, and welcoming nature. She had a gift for making friends wherever she went, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who met her. Her kindness, enthusiasm, and genuine love for others will be deeply missed and forever cherished. Kathy enjoyed staying active and participated in a variety of workout classes, loved water aerobics, and could often be found playing shuffleboard, bocce ball and cards-especially her favorite game, euchre.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 11am to 2pm at Capitano’s at 1400 Empire Blvd. Rochester, NY in the Bayside room.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Kathy’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
