IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathleen Marie
Donald
November 16, 1954 – January 27, 2026
Kathleen Marie Donald, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed peacefully on January 27, 2026, at the age of 71, in The Villages, Florida. Born on November 16, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, Kathy was the daughter of Gilbert and Helen Cousineau.
Kathy lived a life full of love, dedication, and passion. She was married for 46 wonderful years to her devoted husband, Ian Donald and together they raised two children, Sean and Kristen. Throughout the years, they enjoyed traveling together, exploring the US and abroad. Kathy’s greatest joy in life, however, came from being a grandmother to her three grandchildren, Sawyer, Claire, and Cate. She treasured every moment spent with them, celebrating their milestones, and nurturing their hearts with love and turkey and cheese sandwiches.
Kathy's pursuit of knowledge led her to earn a Master's degree in education from the Ohio State University. She dedicated 32 years to teaching in her local school districts, inspiring countless students with her love of language. After retirement, she found a special joy in participating in French Club, furthering her passion for culture and communication.
Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved grandfather Angus Swanson, parents Gilbert and Helen Cousineau, brothers Mark Cousineau and Keith Cousineau, and son-in-law Matt Bloom. Kathy leaves behind an adoring family, including her husband Ian, children Sean (Rachel) and Kristen (Kurstan), grandchildren Sawyer, Claire and Cate, brothers Kevin Cousineau and Scott (Melissa) Cousineau, sisters-in-law Sandy Cousineau and Debbie Cousineau, many nephews and nieces, and four-legged-son Cooper the doodle.
In her final days, Kathy received compassionate care from Cornerstone Hospice and the dedicated caregivers at Helping Precious Angels, LLC. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the support provided during this time.
A service will be held at Holy Sepluchre in Southfield, Michigan to honor her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge-Tampa in Kathy’s name, ensuring that her legacy of compassion lives on.
