Obituary

Kathleen Ann (Kitty) Guzinski, 70

Kitty Guzinski of Hulbert, Michigan and Leesburg, Florida, passed  away peacefully after a brave fight against cancer on December 29, 2017 at her home in Leesburg, Florida.

Kitty was born on April 2, 1947, to John and Betty Casey of Alanson, Michigan. On November 3, 1962, Kitty married Norman Shafer and they raised two daughters Terry and Diane. On May 17, 1986 she married Stephen Guzinski, who brought to the family a son, Pieter. Together they made a home in the Alanson area until Steves's retirement, at which time they moved to Hulbert, Michigan. They were blessed to have a wonderful marriage for 32 years.  They spent their winters in Florida, where many friends and family members surrounded them.

Kitty worked in the Petoskey area for may years and made a lot of friends and met a lot of people while she was a server at various restaurants such as, Bay's, House of Flavors, The Country Kitchen, Anderson's, Jesperson's and The Bistro. Many people have said she was "the best server they've ever seen." She truly enjoyed being with large groups of people, enjoying conversation, laughs, beers and listening to her sister Nancy and brother in law Norm perform in their band The Country Classics. She was a kind and thoughtful person and was loved by many.

Kitty is survived by her loving husband, Steve, daughters; Theresa Nelson and Diane (Jeff) Sydow, Son: Pieter (Keturah) Guzinski, Sisters; Nancy (Norman) Honeysette, Jan (Ron) Burton and Sharon (David) Casey-Hook, Grandchildren; Courtney Hickman (Mike Holbrook), Noel Hickman (Travis Fletcher), Brandon Johansen (Margaret Pflug), Abby (Doug) Blaskowski, Jacob Sydow and Emma Jo Guzinski.
