Obituary

Kathleen R. (Kathy) Marino, born July 10,1965 originally of Lodi, NJ passed away on January 28, 2025 at the age of 59.  While battling a rare disease, she found peace and strength in the presence of her wife Mary Beth, her brothers & sisters, in-laws, cousins and close friends.  She was also supported by an extraordinary team of caregivers at Orlando Health and Cornerstone Hospice, whom the family considers angels on Earth.

Kathy was the daughter of Vincent and Rita Marino.  She was the youngest of eight children – Vinny, Jimmy (Cindy), Ronnie (Kim), Debi, Ricky (Jody), Carol, and Kenny (Mandy).  Raised in a lively, love-filled home, she thrived in the joyful chaos of a big family. She had a deep passion for sports—playing softball & basketball, and enjoying football Sundays with her loved ones (Go Steelers). The Marino household was known for its open doors and warm Sunday dinners, where "the more, the merrier" was a way of life. As nieces and nephews came along, Kathy proudly embraced her most cherished title: Aunt Kat.

Kathy was a woman of many hats – an entrepreneur, coach, dog mom, and consistent light in the community.  She opened a tanning salon alongside her wife, worked as a realtor in the Northern New Jersey area, and coached her nieces in community softball with dedication and heart.

In 2006, Kathy and Mary Beth relocated to North Carolina, where she discovered a new calling as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, focusing especially on senior wellness. She later managed New Millennium Fitness, bringing motivation and joy to her clients.

During the pandemic, the couple made another move—this time to The Villages in Florida. Kathy embraced the golf cart lifestyle and quickly became a beloved figure in the Village of Monarch Grove. As the General Manager of Anytime Fitness in Leesburg, she continued to uplift others through health, positivity, and her signature enthusiasm.

No matter where she lived, Kathy had a remarkable gift for bringing people together. Her magnetic spirit and genuine care for others built strong, lasting communities—especially among those who joined her fitness classes. Her radiant smile, encouraging presence, and kind heart made everyone feel welcomed and seen.

Kathy's legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed for her warmth, humor, and unwavering spirit and passion.
