Kathleen F. Zima, age 87, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, in Fort Myers, Florida.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Kathleen was the beloved daughter of David Kennedy and Sylvia (Halik) Kennedy. She was one of twelve children and was raised in the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood of Chicago. Kathleen spent most of her life in Illinois before later enjoying her years in Florida.

Kathleen was known throughout the southwest suburbs of Chicago for the family business she built alongside her beloved husband, William C. Zima Sr. Together, they founded and operated Ma and Pa's Party Kart, a business fondly remembered by generations of families throughout the southwest suburbs. Through hard work, determination, and a genuine love of people, Kathleen and her husband built a successful business that became part of countless family celebrations and cherished memories throughout the community.

Kathleen's greatest legacy was the family she and William built together. Through a lifetime of hard work, perseverance, and love, they created a family that now spans multiple generations. Their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are a testament to the enduring foundation they established, and their love and devotion to one another reflect that lasting legacy.

Kathleen is survived by her children: William C. Zima Jr. (Melinda Zima), Mary Kay Furiasse (John Furiasse), Bryan Zima (Jane Zima), Michelle Zima (Gregg Callaby), and Steven Zima. She is also survived by four of her twelve siblings, 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, many extended family members, dear friends, and the many grand dogs she loved so much.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William C. Zima Sr., affectionately known as her "Buddy." In a remarkable testament to their enduring bond, Kathleen passed away on June 11, the same date as her husband, exactly nine years after his passing. Family and friends take comfort in the thought that they are reunited once again.

Kathleen will be remembered for her strong work ethic, generous spirit, and the life she built alongside her husband, family, and friends. Her legacy lives on in the business she helped build, the generations she helped inspire, and the countless memories shared by those who knew and loved her throughout her 87 years.

Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Mass celebrating Kathleen's life will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 9310 S. 55th Court, Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453.

Following the Mass, family and friends are invited to gather for a luncheon at Fox's Restaurant & Pub, 9240 S. Cicero Avenue, Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453, as they continue celebrating Kathleen's life and sharing cherished memories.
