IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathryn Ella
Barkley
December 14, 1942 – March 15, 2026
Memorial Service
Kathryn Ella Barkley, lovingly known as Kathie or “Snooky,” passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born on December 14, 1942, in Kingston, New York, and later made her home in Ocala, Florida, where she built a life centered around faith, family, and community.
Kathie was the cherished daughter of the late David Henry Breitenbecker and Catherine Ella Whipple Breitenbecker. She was preceded in death by both of her parents.
She is survived by her loving children, Deborah K. (Daniel) Wilson and David Clement. Kathie was a proud grandmother to Jennifer (Cody) Watt, Justin (Laina) Wilson, and Steven (Amanda) Martin, and a devoted great-grandmother to Bailee and Jaxson Watt, Lila and Ella Wilson, and Colby Martin. She is also survived by her brothers, David (Sharon) Breitenbecker and Robert (Gail) Breitenbecker, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her presence.
Kathie was a graduate of Ocala High School, class of 1961. She dedicated many years of her career to Florida Telephone, as well as JWJ Construction and On Top of the World Communities. She was proud of her accomplishments, including being named Officer of the Year by the Ocala Elks Lodge in 2025.
A woman of strong faith, Kathie was actively involved in Meadowbrook Church and the Elks Lodge, where she formed many lasting friendships. She found joy in simple pleasures—riding horses, spending time with animals (especially her beloved dogs), and cherishing moments with her family.
Kathie will be remembered for putting her faith first, her warm sense of humor, and her independent and caring spirit. She had a way of making others feel welcome and loved, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on March 21 at 2:00 p.m. at Berean Baptist Church. 4800 SW 20th St, Ocala, FL 34474.
Kathie’s legacy lives on through the family she adored and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
