Obituary

Kenneth W. Scott Jr., 77, of Cape Coral, FL, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 16, 1949, in Indianapolis, IN to Helen Scott (nèe Bolerjack) and Kenneth Scott. Kenny grew up with a passion for dogs, racing, golf and building. He graduated from Decatur Central High School in IN and went to Missouri School of Science and Technology for civil engineering. He had a dedicated career building homes, eventually owning his own business, Scott Homes, in central Indiana. In 2001, he retired early and moved to Ft. Myers Beach/Cape Coral, FL, but continued to pursue passions of photography, golf and raising his beloved Great Danes.

Beyond his professional life, Kenny was a man of many talents. As a younger man, he raced go carts and motorcycles; and raised and bred conformation show dogs. As a father, he was crew chief and lead mechanic to his son’s varied racing career for 12 years. He was a coach of many softball and baseball teams to both his children. Throughout his life he made time to play golf, even teaching his children to play golf. Golf remained a lifelong passion – one he eagerly shared with his wife, Kathy, he was a devoted member of Palmetto Pine Country Club for nearly two decades, where he enjoyed camaraderie, competition and countless hours on the course. He also continued his involvement in conformation showing and breeding Great Danes.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Helen and Kenneth Scott, sister, Sue Ann Scott, and daughter Vanessa Sue Scott.Kenny is survived by his wife of 17 years, Kathleen (Kathy) Scott (nèe Crane); his children Melissa (Missy) Scott and Kenneth (K.W.) Scott III with his former spouse, Patricia (Trish) Scott (nèe Harrison) and brother Denny Scott. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Helen and Kenneth Scott, sister, Sue Ann Scott, and daughter Vanessa Sue Scott.

A private family service will be held in Cape Coral, FL. Services in Indiana will be held at a later date yet to be determined.
