Kenneth E. Wells, 88, of Lady Lake, Florida passed from this life into Eternal Life on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages. Ken was born on June 13, 1934, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Emory T. Wells and Wilhelmina (Minnie) Buchholtz. In 1938, he was given the new birth of baptism at Christ Lutheran Church in North St. Paul, Minnesota.
After several years, the family moved from North St. Paul to Stevensville, Michigan. In 1948, Ken was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stevensville. He was a 1953 graduate of St. Joseph High School and attended community college until he was drafted into the Army in April 1955. He served in the 3 rd Infantry Old Guard, Co G, and was then transferred to the Headquarters, First Cavalry Division, Tokyo, Japan. He was honorably discharged in March 1957. On June 15, 1958, he married Elisabeth L. Voss, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church inStevensville, Michigan. They moved to St. Paul, Minnesota in the late fall of 1959. Theywere blessed with 3 daughters and one son. They lived in North St. Paul from 1964 to 2005 when they became full-time residents in Lady Lake, FL. Ken was a member of Open Bible Lutheran Church in Oxford.
While living in Minnesota, Ken worked in the grocery industry for Applebaum's, Foodtown Markets and Country Club Markets as a Produce Manager. He spent several years as a sales representative for Singer Sewing Company at Dayton's Department store in St. Paul and later a part-time furniture sales representative at Furniture Showrooms in NE Minneapolis. He was a member of UFCW Local 789 and in 1980 became a business representative of the International UFCW until he retired in 1995.
Ken was a collector of antique trains and toys and was a member of the Lakes & Pines Division for the Train Collectors Association in MN. He had also been a member of the Maplewood, MN Coin Club. He enjoyed going to the Kane County, Illinois, antique toy show several times a year. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Elisabeth, twin daughters Jeanette (Donald) Schmalzbauer and Annette Wells, both of Oakdale, Minnesota. A son Robert (Melinda) Wells of Dresser, Wisconsin and a daughter, Susan (Todd) Friel of
Suwanee, Georgia, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children, sisters Roberta Cromwell, St. Joseph, MI and Teri Slabaugh, Baroda, MI.Preceded in death by: his parents, brothers David, Clayton and Theodore, sisters Velma Jensen and Arliss Davis.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Open Bible Lutheran Church, 4671 Bellwether Lane, Oxford, FL 34484
