With deepest sorrow and heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, partner, and friend, Wade Willingham, who passed away surrounded by family at the age of 79.

Born on April 27, 1947, in Steele, Missouri, Wade began a life that would take him through many places, creating friendships, memories, and family connections along the way. He spent part of his life in Michigan, where he formed lasting friendships and built relationships with family that remained an important part of his life. In 1980, Wade found his way to St. Augustine, Florida, a place that would ultimately become home. It was there that he planted his roots, built a life surrounded by family and friends, and created countless memories over the years

A proud United States Marine and Vietnam veteran, Wade carried the pride of his service throughout his life. He was especially proud to have been a Marine and lived by the spirit of “Semper Fi”; Always Faithful. His service was an important part of who he was and something he carried with him throughout his life.

Wade was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family. Throughout his career, he worked as a lineman and union boilermaker, building a life through hard work, dedication, and determination.

He found joy in the open road and the freedom of riding his motorcycle, spending time outdoors, and sharing fellowship with his brothers and friends through veteran clubs and organizations. He was a member of Ashlar Lodge of the Masonic Fraternity and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). But above all, family was at the heart of his life. He treasured the time spent with those he loved, sharing stories, making memories, and simply being together.

Wade leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and will carry his memory forward. He is survived by his children, Nicole King (Shawn), Janelle Moore (Matthew), Joshua Willingham, and Gretchen Willingham; his lifelong partner, Nyna Thacker; his former wife, Judie Willingham; his nephew, Steven Chase; his grandchildren, Chelsea King, Micaela King, Tanner King, Juliette Moore, and Thomas Moore; and his great-grandson, Lincoln King.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Eula Willingham; his sister, Barbara Bertakis; and his niece, Stephanie Chase.

He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a proud legacy of service, and a family who will carry his love and memory forward. His stories, laughter, strength, and memories will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

His boots may be still, but his spirit will ride on.
