Kim L. Measels ("Kimmy"), a beloved friend and artist, passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 15, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on June 24, 1949, in the Phu Nhuan villages of Vietnam, Kimmy's life was a testament to resilience, creativity, and unwavering kindness.

Kimmy's life was deeply enriched by her marriage to a career army officer, who served for 30 years before retiring. Their union created a strong foundation for her life, filled with love and support. She possessed remarkable artistic talents, finding joy in the intricate artistry of sewing and the vibrant expression of painting. Her paintings were truly accomplished, showcasing her keen eye for detail and her innate ability to capture beauty. Her sewing skills were equally impressive.

A woman of generous spirit, Kimmy was a friend to all who knew her. She was an active member of "Forever Young Vietnam," a testament to her vibrant personality and enduring connections.

Kimmy is survived by her devoted companion, Ed Turney; her special "sister," Karen Sharp; and her grandchildren, Elizabeth and Haley Measels. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Robert; her husband, David; her grandson, Matt; her son, Drew; and her parents, Phan Van Duc and Nguyen Thi Le. The loss of her sons and grandson brought immeasurable sorrow, but her spirit remained unbroken.

Kimmy's life was a journey marked by both joy and sorrow, but throughout it all, she remained a beacon of warmth and compassion. Her legacy of love, creativity, and friendship will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A graveside service will be held at Florida National Cemetery on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to veterans' associations in Kimmy's memory. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
