IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kirk
Vandervoort
February 4, 1969 – July 8, 2017
Kirk Vandervoort, February 4, 1969 – July 8, 2017, age 48, of New Smyrna Beach, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 8, 2017, after a short but courageous battle with esophageal cancer. His loving "wife," Dee Ache, was by his side as he left this life and was welcomed into Heaven with these words from Jesus, "[Son], your faith has healed you. [Come] in peace and be freed from your suffering." (Mark 5:34)
Kirk was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, graduated from Richard King High School ('87), and later attended Texas A & M in College Station. He was happy anywhere there was a beach and had lived in Florida for many years.
Kirk has been reunited with his mother, Lois Lester, and his father, Ralph Lester. He is survived by his son, Killian Vandervoort, of Ormond Beach, whom he "loved more than anything on God's green earth;" his brothers, Vann Vandervoort (Michele) of Houston, TX; Chad Vandervoort of Austin, TX; Rod Vandervoort (Tarali) of Pembroke Pines, FL; Tim Lester of St. Petersburg, FL; and his sister, Becky Ponton of San Antonio, TX, as well as his nephew, Calvin Ponton, III, and his nieces, Blair and Morgan Vandervoort.
Cremation is being handled by Baldwin Brothers; afterwards, a memorial service will be held in Kirk's memory. Details will be posted on his FaceBook page once arrangements have been made. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or a cause dear to the giver's heart.
Kirk was known among his many friends for his wicked wit and sense of humor. Because he would not want this tribute to be too serious or sentimental, until we see him again, we send him off with love and one of his favorite expressions, "Great googledygook!"
