Obituary

Larry Bradbury, a man of warmth and adventure, passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2025.

Born on July 5, 1957, in Brewer, Maine, to Inga Doll and Harry Bradbury, Larry's early life was marked by the travels of a military family. He shared his childhood with his sister, Susan, and brother, Dieter. After his family returned to Maine, he graduated from Washington Academy in East Machias.

Larry's commitment to service led him to join the U.S. Army in 1975, where he served honorably for four years at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and in Böblingen, Germany. Upon his return to civilian life, he settled in Lewiston, Maine, and embarked on a career at Bath Iron Works. It was there he met Karen Farley, his soulmate and partner in life.

In 1999, Larry and Karen relocated to Florida, where he began a second career with the U.S. Postal Service. He retired in 2016, and he and Karen embraced a life of travel and simple pleasures. They cherished leisurely road trips, often preferring back roads to highways, including a memorable week-long journey from Ocala, Florida, to Maine.

Larry found joy in the simple things: tending his garden, stargazing by the fire pit, savoring a fine cigar with a sip of tequila, and pursuing his passions for woodworking and photography. A true "gentle giant," he possessed a remarkable ability to connect with others, never meeting a stranger. His kindness and genuine interest in people left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He leaves behind a heartbroken family, including his beloved wife, Karen; his children, Kyle (Stephanie), Sara, Kelly (Eric), and Chris (Katie); and his cherished grandchildren, Abigail, Oliver, Levi, and Violet. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a vast network of extended family and friends.

A private memorial has been held. A celebration of Larry's life will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at a later date.
