IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry Richard
Howland
June 28, 1950 – September 29, 2024
Larry R. Howland, affectionately known as "Darryl," passed away on September 29, 2024, at the age of 74. Though 74 in years, Larry's youthful spirit often made him seem much younger at heart. Born in Amsterdam, NY, Larry spent most of his life in Hagaman, NY, before moving to Tavares, FL, where he resided for the past 15 years.
Larry is survived by his beloved dogs, Peanut, Milo and Linus; his children, Larry C. (Ginger) Howland of Fruitland Park, FL, Rebecca Hrycenko of Hagaman, NY, John (Irene) Howland of Hagaman, NY, and Mark Howland of Amsterdam, NY; his sister, Debi (Rick) Becker of Tavares, FL; granddaughter, Corina (Cody) Faustner of Amsterdam, NY; Isabelle Hrycenko of Hagaman, NY; and two great-grandchildren, MiraJane and Dante of Amsterdam, NY.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Clara (Hawks) Howland of Hagaman, NY, and his brother, Robert (Donna) Howland of Hagaman, NY.
Larry will be remembered for his playful nature and quick wit. A master of jokes, pranks, and witty comebacks, he had a knack for bringing laughter to those around him. He loved to stay active, whether it was riding his motorcycle, working in his garage, building computers with multiple monitors, or playing games with family and friends. His lifelong passion for tropical fish meant that he always had at least one, if not three, tanks filled with his aquatic friends.
A talented woodworker, Larry could build almost anything and frequently lent his skills to help his family with building and remodeling projects. His love for creating, helping others, and his sense of humor were passed down to his children, who will continue his legacy.
Larry was a proud member of the Central Florida Cruisers motorcycle club. During his time in New York, he served as a volunteer ambulance driver for many years. He also volunteered at his church, reading scripture and coaching his children's basketball team. He enjoyed collecting Native American art and lighthouse décor, hobbies that reflected his diverse interests.
A memorial service will be held on October 2, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baldwin Brothers Tavares, 1350 E Burleigh Blvd, Tavares, FL 32778.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Lake County Animal Shelter in Larry's memory
