Obituary

On the afternoon of Tuesday, June 13th, 2023, Laura (Linegar) Corbett passed away at the age of 56. Laura was the beloved wife and best friend to her husband, Jim, and mother of two wonderful children, Jake(Mary) and Stacey. Laura was born on March 31, 1967, in Detroit, MI to the late John & Laurina (Desmarais) Linegar. She will be greatly missed by her siblings; Sharon Linegar, John (Cathy) Linegar, Bill (Carole) Linegar, Susan Morgan, June (Dennis) Munro, Ruth (Tom) Richards and the late Brian Linegar; as well as many nieces and nephews. Laura and Jim married on August 12 th , 1989 and Laura became a loving Daughter-in-law to Mike and the late Phyllis(Jarvis)Corbett, Sister-in-law to Shelly(the late Ed) Dudek, Beth(Greg) Lundy, and the late Mark Corbett; as well as many nieces and nephews, all who will miss her and her beautiful smile and laughter dearly.

Sadly, the world will be a little emptier without her kind soul and loving nature in it. Laura was a beloved, beautiful straight shooter with the best laugh ever! We will deeply miss her no-nonsense, tell it like it is attitude and how she always did what she wanted without worrying what others thought. She fiercely loved and protected her family and was always there putting their needs above her own. When she fought the biggest battle of her life, she did it on her own terms. She chose hope and positivity to handle all her decisions and she beat the odds and survived for 4.5 years. She decided to live, love and laugh and enjoy life with her family as much as possible throughout this journey, even in the hardest times. During that time she was able to celebrate 5 additional birthdays, 4 additional anniversaries, the marriage of her son, multiple vacations and trips that included several family weddings out of state. To those around her, Laura was a hero for the way she handled her diagnosis and her treatments with class, determination, and a pure stubbornness not to let it bring her down. She was an absolute warrior, loved and respected by all of those who met her and treated her, and by all of us who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be deeply missed.

A funeral-celebration of life service will be held on July 13, 2023 from 2-4 PM, at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 1 N Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers, her family is asking that those who read this take the time to do something kind or special for someone today. Laura was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, helping anyone who asked however she could. She regularly gave donations to First Harvest in Orlando, the Salvation Army, Good Will, and she walked in Multiple 5k's for different charities, even before her Glioblastoma Diagnosis. Every year since, in order to bring awareness and raise money for research to find a cure, Laura and her family have also participated in the following 5k's:  Melissa's Race and Head for a Cure. They are both Wonderful Charities so please consider attending one in her honor in the future.

God bless you all and Live, Love and Laugh as much as possible each and every day.
