IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lawrence (Larry) Albert
LeMontagne
November 8, 1952 – March 29, 2026
Lawrence A. (Larry) LeMontagne, 73 of Dunnellon, Florida, died peacefully in hospice care in the early morning hours of March 29, 2026, after a prolonged illness from heart disease.
He was born in Middletown CT on November 8,1952, the son of Philip L. and Carol A. LeMontagne of Higganum. He attended Haddam schools and graduated from Vinal Technical High School in Middletown in 1970.
For the past 15 years he has resided privately in Florida where he liked to ride his bicycle, listen to classic rock music and go to the library for books on tape and for movies. He enjoyed watching football and auto racing, both oval and drags on television. He enjoyed homecooked meals which were dropped off weekly to him by our sister.
Larry will be remembered lovingly by his family for his kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit. He loved his family and participated in many gatherings which always ended with an evening campfire. With his first paycheck he bought the family a swimming pool which had been enjoyed for many years. He liked to strum his guitar and taught other family members how to play. He jammed with his brothers and they recorded a cassette, a source of hilarity when listened to. He whittled and carved beautiful animals and birds into wood, a skill he was able to share with one of his nephews.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Larry explored the north country, living in New Hampshire and Vermont, camping, fishing and hiking the trails. He found peace in the natural world, even living in a tent for several months. His later years took him in a new direction where he discovered the beauty of Florida’s natural world.
He was predeceased by his parents and youngest sister Debra. He is survived by three brothers and four sisters, Diane Welch of Monroe NH, Cheryl Andrews and her husband Scott of Dunnellon FL, Philip LeMontagne Jr and his wife Valerie of Middletown CT, Barbara Carr of Clinton CT, Kathleen Dean and her husband David of Anthony FL, Daniel LeMontagne of Chloride AZ and Michael LeMontagne of Haddam CT. Also, many adoring nieces and nephews.
A private burial and memorial service will take place later this summer at the family’s discretion.
