We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Lawrence Thomas Stankovits, at the age of 79, on November 30, 2024, at his home in New Smyrna Beach, FL. He was the devoted husband to his beloved wife, Leslie Jeanne Atherton. They met in fifth grade, and built a life together filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was the most loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His grandchildren, Elly, Bennett, Quinn, and Matt, held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in every moment spent with them. His great-granddaughter Abigail stole his heart, and he adored her beyond measure. Larry's love extended to his nieces, nephews, and the many friends of his children and grandchildren, whom he welcomed as part of his extended family. His generosity and willingness to lend a hand made him a beloved neighbor and friend to all. He never met a stranger and was always ready to help anyone in need. Larry was a successful athlete scholar at New Brunswick High School in NJ where he lettered in Football, Basketball and Track & Field. He went on to play football for Colgate University. He was a fraternity member of Phi Gamma Delta. Forever a FIJI brother. A proud director at AT&T, Larry retired at the age of 52, enjoying his time with family and pursuing his passions. He loved bowling, golf, beach walking, the gym, bargain shopping for fun things and silly road trips. He was a devoted sports fan, with a particular fondness for the Orlando Magic, the Miami Marlins and the New York Jets. His enthusiasm for his teams was contagious, and he loved watching games surrounded by those he loved. Larry's passing leaves an irreplaceable void, but his kindness, generosity, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His spirit and legacy will continue to inspire us every day. He was preceded in death by his parents Stephen J & Goldie Stankovits, his brother Stephen (Steve) J Stankovits and his sisters Goldie Jadczak and Lorraine Allen. Larry is survived by his wife of 57 beautiful years Leslie J Stankovits; Daughter Laura Reid and her husband Drew Reid of New Smyrna Beach, FL; Son Lawrence M Stankovits and his wife Terry of Rumson, NJ. His heart was overflowing with love and pride for his grandchildren Elly, Bennett & Quinn Stankovits. His grandson, right hand man, confidant & best friend Matthew T Stankovits and his wife Kerri Stankovits gave him the most precious gift of all last year, his great granddaughter Abigail. Abi was truly the light of Larry's life. Larry's memorial service will be held on 12/10/24 11:00am-1:00pm at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society 1 N. Causeway New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169.
