Leta B. Scanlan, 92 of Dania Beach died Thursday, September 25, 2014 in New Smyrna Beach, FL.  Leta was born May 26, 1922 in Elkin, NC to the late Nellie and Ernest Brown.  She married John Scanlan in 1965 and built their home in Dania Beach.  Leta worked as a Tax Preparer for H&R Block for 20 years and after she retired, continued preparing taxes until she was 90.  Her interests included sewing, dancing, bowling and traveling.  She was preceded in death by her son, C.L. and daughter, Suzie Lowe Tice.  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Angie Lowe, of New Smyrna Beach; grandchildren, Rhonda Van Sant, Kim Dennis, Traci Hancock, Brad Lowe and 7 great-grandchildren, as well as her loving companion, Maurice Fournier.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org.  Graveside services will be held 2PM, Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Hollywood Memorial Gardens, Hollywood, FL.
