IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda
Barnett
December 28, 1945 – December 28, 2023
Linda Barnett, age 78, passed away peacefully in her home on December 28th after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Linda was born on December 28, 1945, to her late parents, Justin and Gertrude Norton, in Schenectady, NY. Linda spent most of her life living within the area and attended Scotia Glenville High School from which she graduated in 1963. After graduating, Linda began a lifelong career at the United States Postal Service where she would dedicate over 30 years of service. Linda was adored and loved by many at the Post Office, especially by Mary Mochrie and April Rowe, who became her dear life-long friends. Through the years, they shared many laughs and adventures together which she kept close to her heart.
After Linda retired, she and Mary relocated to the beautiful Cape Coral, FL. Linda often enjoyed spending time with many of her close friends playing cards and eating at her favorite local restaurants. She also loved to spend time with her dog, Charlie, and to soak up the warm sunshine out on the lanai. Linda loved to surround herself with friends and family often traveling back to New York to visit.
Linda is survived by her three sons, Richard, Ronald, and Paul; her nine grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Rachel, Jessica, Dominic, Jillian, Rylan, Corbin, Jack, and Tayven; her great granddaughter, Harper Higginson; her extended family, Diana Barnett and Laura Baker; her sister-in-law Margaret Barnett and all of her nieces and nephews. Linda's greatest joy in life was being a Grandma/Mema.
In addition to her parents, Linda is predeceased by her husband Richard Barnett; her sister, Justine Chovanec; nephew, Jeffrey Chovanec; and grandson, Casch Barnett. The family would like to thank Mary Mochrie for her dedication in caring for Linda in her last few months with us. It was no easy task, but Mary took it in stride for her beloved best friend. Linda's family would like to extend their gratitude to her caregivers at Bonita Health Center, VITAS Healthcare and hospice as well for their continued support.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date per Linda's wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fulton Regional SPCA as Linda was an avid animal lover
