Obituary

Lloyd Allen Heneveld, Jr., a faithful husband, father, friend, and servant of Christ, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026. Allen was born on April 8, 1953, in Alexandria, Virginia, to Lloyd Allen and June Marie Heneveld. Both of his parents preceded him in death.

Allen graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1971 and went on to attend Hope College, Duke Graduate School of Business, and George Washington University Law School, earning degrees from each. Allen built a successful career in both business and law. He held leadership positions as CFO, COO, and CEO, while also practicing law through his own firm, specializing in business law, estate planning, and probate.

On March 26, 1994, Allen and Nina Matic began an adventurous journey as husband and wife that would span 32 years. Together, they built a close and caring family with their four children, Grace, Luke, Adam, and Hope. Allen loved Nina and his children very much. If there is one thing he wanted them to know, it was that he believed in them! When it came to his children, Allen thoughtfully provided the guidance and opportunities he believed would help them become all that God intends for them to be.

Allen's faith was the foundation of his life. He loved Jesus, and his two greatest passions were growing in his own relationship with Christ and helping others do the same. Allen wrote The Victorious Life, a workbook designed to help believers walk in victory in Christ. For more than a decade, he led small groups of men through this transformative study. In the past few years, Allen undertook an in-depth study of forgiveness and began writing about what God was revealing to him. He completed about 90% of the book. So, stay tuned.

Outside of his work and writing, Allen enjoyed spending time with his family and pursuing some of his favorite pastimes: fishing, hunting, and golfing. He especially enjoyed sharing these activities with family and friends.

A service celebrating Allen's life will be held on October 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Calvary Church of Grand Rapids, 707 East Beltline Avenue Northeast, Grand Rapids, MI  49525 Reception to follow. Family and friends are invited to gather to remember Allen, share stories, and celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Filter of Hope (filterofhope.org), a ministry dedicated to bringing safe, clean drinking water and the Gospel to people in desperate need of both.

Allen leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and integrity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His influence will live on through the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the faith he shared.
