IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lois
Baker
January 30, 1929 – May 30, 2025
Lois Talent Baker, 96, of Winter Park, Florida, formerly of Ashland, Kentucky, passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord on May 30, 2025.
Lois was born January 30, 1929, in Wadesboro, North Carolina. She was the beloved wife of Bertice Gaddy Baker for 72 years, before Bert passed away on September 20, 2019. For all of those years, Lois and Bert never revealed where they spent their honeymoon.
Lois was welcomed into heaven by her loving husband, Bert; daughter, Wanda; parents, William and Catherine; and her eight siblings.
Lois was a devoted mother to Beverly Moore (Lou), Wanda Baker (Robin), and Denise Neyer (Tom). She was very proud of her six grandchildren, Collin Elam (Jacki), Shea Herron (Keith), Holly Jenkins (Wes), Erica Kramer (Ryan), Evan Neyer (Dee Dee), Jonathan Neyer (Christine), and her twelve great-grandchildren.
Lois centered her life around two priorities, her faith and her family. In her early years, she sang in her church choir and taught Sunday school. She and her husband were always active members of their church family. She was a faithful member of Community Bible Study when it began in 1979; serving in leadership and remaining a member until she retired to Florida in 2014. She was one of the first trained Stephen Ministers at South Ashland United Methodist Church (now Cornerstone) in 1998.
Lois was affectionately called "Gran" by her family. She was a thoughtful and generous gift giver. She loved spending time with her whole family on annual beach vacations. Lois took great joy in sharing her southern cooking with family and friends and will be forever remembered for her delicious biscuits, sweet tea, and chocolate pie.
A Celebration of Life will take place at First United Methodist Church, 439 E. Fifth Avenue, Mount Dora, Florida 32757, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
Donations in memory of Lois may be made to the Melanoma Research Alliance at curemelanoma.org.
