Delores "Lolita" Fuertes Sanes (92), originally from Culebra, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Lolita was born on August 25, 1932, in Culebra, Puerto Rico, to José and María Fuertes. She dedicated much of her life to family, faith, and friendship, always ensuring those around her felt loved and cared for. She had a successful career as the Little Big Manager of Cardow Jewelers in St. Thomas, VI, where her leadership and charm made her an unforgettable presence.
Lolita was an avid pool player and dancer, known for her love of cooking for family and friends, ensuring no one ever left her home hungry. She was a QVC & HSN Queen, a skilled maraca player, and a lover of animals, particularly sandhill cranes, whom she loved to feed. She enjoyed traveling, playing blackjack at the casino, and giving back to the community.
Lolita was a woman of faith who loved and supported her family and friends wholeheartedly. She was always willing to help, socially savvy, and a dedicated supporter of charities benefiting children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, José and María Fuertes, and her beloved siblings: Jaime Jesús "Jimmy" Fuertes, Sergio Fuertes Romero, Juan "Guale" Fuertes Romero, Eloísa "Sule" Fuertes Romero de Maldonado, Luis Fuertes Romero, Francisca "Sica" Fuertes Romero de Lugo, José "Pepe" Fuertes Romero, Antonio "Tony" Fuertes Romero, Ramón Fuertes Sanes, Miguel Fuertes Sanes and Irene González Nuñez.
She is survived by her many cherished nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly and will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Baldwin Brothers Tavares, 1350 E. Burleigh Blvd, Tavares, FL 32778.
Lolita will be deeply missed, but her warmth, kindness, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
