Lorraine D.
Viglione
January 19, 1929 – April 4, 2026
Lorraine DeJoseph Viglione, born January 19, 1929, to the late Mary and Michael DeJoseph of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 4, 2026, in Venice, Florida, at the age of 97.
Mrs. Viglione, known lovingly to her family as Mom and Nana, was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the wife of the late Dr. Joseph Phillip Viglione, who passed away in 2015. She resided in Mashpee, Massachusetts, where she enjoyed hosting her large extended family, sailing, painting, cooking Italian cuisine and participating in the League of Women Voters. She always greeted everyone with a smile and showed us the true meaning of unconditional love for family.
She graduated from Hazleton High School in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, in 1946 and from The Pennsylvania State University in 1950, after which she attended graduate school at Temple University and taught second grade at Rosemont School in Rosemont, Pennsylvania. In 1952, she married Joseph Phillip Viglione of Bangor, Pennsylvania. She became the chief administrator of Dr. Viglione’s family medicine practice in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, where she also raised their four children. Her social and adventurous spirit were inspirations to all who knew her. She loved sharing stories of her adventures, whether it be from road trips across the country, skiing the alps, or living in Italy among the locals - learning the language and honoring her heritage.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Nicholas DeJoseph, who died in World War II during the Bataan Death March, her son, Anthony Joseph Viglione, and her grandson, Manny Schneck. She is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl Viglione, and her husband, John Curnes, of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Costa Rica; Laurie Tzodikov, and her husband, Nathan Tzodikov, of Nokomis, Florida; and Mary Schneck, and her husband, Michael Schneck, of Highland Park, Illinois. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren: Clair Viglione; Anthony Curnes, and his wife, Apeksha Curnes; Laurie Curnes; John Curnes, Jr., and his wife, Jenna Curnes; Nicole Curnes, and her husband, Arley Morelock; Natalie Curnes Baxter, and her husband, Nicholas Baxter; Gina Tzodikov; Benjamin Tzodikov, and his wife, Rebecca Tzodikov; Eli Schneck; Rachel Schneck; Jacob Schneck; Molly Schneck; and Ilana Schneck. Mrs. Viglione is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Henry Curnes, Caroline Curnes, and Arley Morelock, Jr.
Lorraine Viglione was extraordinarily devoted and loving to her family and friends, and she was a joy to be around. Through it all, she always reminded us that we cannot change the past, we simply do the best we can with the time that is given to us. Death is not the end, because no one ever truly dies, but lives on victoriously in eternity. Those wishing to honor her life can make a donation to one of the many charitable organizations that Lorraine supported such as the St. Labre Indian School, Mercy Ships, Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod, and St Jude’s Children Hospital.
