Louis Karbiener, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on the 22 nd of January at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, Florida.
Louis was born in Sekitsch, Yugoslavia to Ludwig and Christina Karbiener on October 30, 1935. He immigrated to the USA in 1951 and attended Grover Cleveland High School in Queens N.Y. He served in the Army from 1958-1960, being stationed in Germany where he earned many trophies for his outstanding athletic abilities in numerous sports. While serving he met Ingrid Steffen who he married on April 14, 1961 in Ridgewood, New York. He graduated from Farmingdale College. He worked as a Tool and Die maker for Kensol-Olsenmark for 25 years. In his life he was an avid soccer player and coach for the German Hungarian Soccer Club and an assistant coach at Fordham University. Following his retirement, he enjoyed travelling between Pennsylvania, Florida and Aruba as well as boat rides and spending time on Lake Wallenpaupack with his family, especially the grandchildren.
Louis is survived by Ingrid, his wife of 60 years, son Lou & Suzanne from Tavares FL, daughter Lynn & Ken from Monroe NY, grandchildren Ian & Correy from Winter Park, FL, Adam & Olivia from St. Cloud, FL, and Samantha from Monroe NY.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30AM on the 8 th of February 2022 at Hope Lutheran Church, The Villages, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Louis may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association of Central & North Florida or Cornerstone Hospice of The Villages.
