Knust-Graichen
September 30, 1949 – April 24, 2024
Louis W. Knust-Graichen (74) of Ormond Beach, Florida, went home to the Lord after a brief illness and surrounded by family on April 24, 2024. His loved ones are devastated by the immense loss but are holding on to the memories they share. Louis was born in Jakarta, Indonesia on September 30, 1949, to Frank and Clara Knust Graichen. His family moved to the Netherlands for several years and then immigrated to Milford Massachusetts.
Louis graduated from Bellingham Massachusetts High School and Salem State College. He loved to play soccer in his youth and later became an enthusiastic tennis player. Louis had a wonderful career as a Computer Education teacher and tennis coach at Londonderry High School in NH before moving to FL and teaching at Mainland High School in Daytona and then Deland Middle School in Deland for a few more years.
Louis and Gaile hosted many international high school exchange students and loved learning about different cultures and in many cases meeting/visiting their families in Europe and South America. He loved to travel, especially cruising, and visiting Louis' family in The Netherlands.
Louis was predeceased by his parents Frank and Clara Knust Graichen, his sister Dorothea Martin, and his brother Victor Knust Graichen. He is survived by his wife, Gaile (Burke) Knust-Graichen, his brother Martin Knust Graichen who resides in Ormond Beach FL, and his brother Arthur Knust Graichen from Blackstone MA.
Louis is also a loving uncle to nephews Arthur Knust Graichen Jr, Gregory Knust Graichen, Martin Knust Graichen Jr, Andre Martin, Adam Rehbein, and Andrew Rehbein, and nieces Kristine Beauparlant, Ineke Brown, Krista Dembure, Nicole Imwold, Sonja Lea Katz, and Ashley Wetherell.
Louis had a wonderful and full life.
A graveside service for Louis will be held at 10:00AM Saturday May 11 at Volusia Memorial in Ormond Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Halifax Humane Society .
