Obituary

Louis Anthony Korahais, 90, passed away February 4, 2026 following a long illness, surrounded in love by his wife, youngest son and daughter in law.

Born in New York City, Lou’s educational background includes the University of Miami, New York University Graduate School of Business and Georgetown Law.

Lou was an executive/attorney for 50 years. His early work experience included the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and the Bank of America. His tenure with the NASD included authoring the Code of Arbitration, running the program and its mediation component for 12 years.

He later joined Shearson, the investment banking and broker-dealer firm (which became part of Citigroup) and managed the Executive Financial Services Division. “EFS” specialized in restricted and control securities, derivative shelf registered transactions, collateral loans, Rule 10b5-1 trading plans and concentrated securities transactions.

Lou was married to Nancy Austin and with two rescue cats in tow, ‘the family’ moved from Northern New Jersey to Florida in 2003 where Lou was a member of the advisory group for “The Sanctuary by the Sea” Homeowners Association in Indialantic, Florida.

Lou and Nancy moved to Winter Park in 2009 and Lou served on the Board of “The Residences of Winter Park” for three years.

Lou was very active at the University Club of Winter Park and served as its Counsel. Additionally, he was a member of the Endowment and Investment Committee, steering the investment practices of The Club. He also conducted a bi-monthly forum on investments for the Club and acted as Board Parliamentarian. Lou established many collegial relationships at The Club and respected and admired his colleagues with whom he worked closely.

He was a rabid New York Yankees fan and attended many, many games at Yankee Stadium from childhood on. He also followed the fortunes of the New York Football Giants, the Miami Hurricanes and got his money’s worth from various cable sports packages.

He is survived by his wife Nancy and his children William Korahais (Sophie), Janine Korahais Stasior, and Todd Korahais (Patty), brothers Frank and Jimmy Korahais and seven grandchildren. He was greatly loved and his life will be remembered as one of triumph.

As per his wishes, funeral services were private.
