IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louise (Lujza) Rubi
McIntyre
May 15, 1943 – January 14, 2026
Louise Rubi McIntyre (born Lujza Rubi Husocki), of Lakeland, Florida (formerly of Flint, Michigan), passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, surrounded by her children. She was 82 years old.
Louise was born on May 15, 1943, in Flint, Michigan to Hungarian parents, Steve Husocki and Mary Husocki (née Simonye). She was one of 12 children, Stevie, Joey, Jimmy, Johnny, George, Roger, Mary, Liz, Ruth Ann, Janet, Louise, Carol (as often recited very fast). Louise led an active life, working hard, raising three children, and spending cherished moments with family and friends. She grew up in a tight-knit family full of love, laughter, and support. She graduated from Northern High School in Flint, Michigan where she was a cheerleader and played Agnes in the Senior Play, “Meet Me in St. Louis”. She lived throughout the Midwest before moving back to Michigan and then to Florida. The little moments she shared help to describe her the most; as a young mom, tucking hair inside the winter coat hood, warming frost-bitten toes, racing to help after a bicycle fall, and cracking up at tightened cheeks trying to squeeze them; as a grandma, picking up from school and feeding ice cream sandwiches; as a sister and aunt, playing Hearts after a big family dinner; as a friend, playing Mahjong and going on walks; as a wife, going on motorcycle trips, dancing, and making a hole-in-one; in her most recent years, telling funny stories, singing songs, and sinking every shot in Cornhole.
Louise is survived by her children, Matthew Wirwicki (Heather) of Owosso, MI and Paula Smith of Lakeland, FL; stepchildren, Bryan McIntyre (Debbie) of Fenton, MI and Jennifer McIntyre of Swartz Creek, MI; daughter-in-law, Lisa Metcalf (Ken); grandchildren, Alexandria Kelley (Devin), Brianna Green (Dillon), Dylan Good (Autumn), and Dan Wirwicki; step-grandchildren, Erik McIntyre, Madeline McIntyre, Samantha McIntyre, Joey Barnett, Jessica Brooks, and Alexandra Beckemeyer; great-grandchildren, Layla Green and Zachary Kelley to-be; step-great-grandchildren, Kenneth McIntyre, Emma Brody, Sam Brody, and Raelyn McIntyre; siblings, Janet Haley, Carol Shew, and Roger Husocki; 23 nieces and nephews; and “adopted” daughters, Erica Davis and Lydia Stayskal.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel McIntyre; son, Mark Smith; parents, Steve and Mary Husocki; siblings, Mary Broughton, Steve Husocki, Elizabeth Yocum, Joseph Husocki, James Husocki, Ruth Ann Sroonian, John Husocki, and George Husocki.
